Working With Us

We were the first institution anywhere in the world dedicated to the study and teaching of tropical diseases when we were established more than one hundred years ago.  In line with our heritage, our aim today is to achieve global recognition as the premier European institution in tropical international health.  Last year we recorded a turnover of £53 million, grew our research portfolio to over £200 million and increased the number of people who we directly employ to nearly 300.

We indirectly support many other jobs and businesses through the goods and services that we buy and contract.  As one of the four institutions in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, we contribute to a total of 14,000 jobs and £1 billion worth of value added to Liverpool’s economy.
